In this is second
installment in the Witchy Woes series, Ms. Hasker reintroduces her
readers to Candace who is still working with her coven sisters to help their
newest member Camryn reverse her failed spells. We meet characters from the
previous book and see what changes have been wrought in their lives since
Tamara's book. As this is primarily Candace's story, Ms. Hasker structures
it so that her readers do not have to read the first book to understand this
latest outing. This book centers on Candace's budding relationship with
Brody Hollinger, with that aspect of the story more than enough to keep her
readers happily occupied for days – unfortunately, the story does not take
that long to read.
While Wicca is an important
element, as it motivates Brady's reactions, it is not the all encompassing
force found in the first Witchy Woes book. In Witchy Woes 2: Candace,
Ms. Hasker focuses more on the physical and emotional connection between her
two main characters, occasionally showing us glimpses of the Wiccan life. I
recall with great enjoyment several memorable and hysterical situations
where a number of secondary characters aid in advancing the plot, adding a
little balance and levity to the story. Above all else, this is an erotic
romance, and Brody is an expert chocolateur when it comes to using
his desserts to exploit Candace's sweet tooth. The scenes between the two
are beyond decadent in some instances. I definitely recommend Witchy Woes:
Candace to everyone who read the first installment and certainly to anyone
just interested in a great book.
