Readers fell in love with hiheelia.com in These Boots
Were Made for Stomping by Julie Kenner, Jade Lee, and Marianne Mancussi.
And now, the devilishly, delightful site is back again in this companion
compilation, These Boots Were Made for Strutting. Authored by romance
favorites Lisa Cach, Gemma Halliday, and Melanie Jackson, this time around
hiheelia.com delivers shoes of a more luxurious nature. Instead of turning
the wearer in to a fashion forward, butt kicking, sex kitten now the shoes
bring out the inner party girl who's ready to strut her stuff. But do not
fret, there's still plenty of romance, action, and sex to keep even the most
impassive reader entranced.
In the first story, A Rose By Any Other Name, by Lisa Cach
readers will come to know Kelsey, aka Rosa Rugosa. By day Kelsey is a
landscape designer, a gardener, a quiet nobody. Yet by night, wearing the
shoes she doesn't really remembering ordering online from hiheelia.com,
she's a sultry party girl named Rosa who just wants to have fun. As Kelsey,
she loves goats and snails- maybe even her sexy new client. Yet she's too
shy and geeky to make that affection known. As Rosa, she's a bombshell who
knows exactly how to get what she wants. With the shoes on and leading the
way, "Rosa" gets up close and personal with Jack, and it's all he can do to
contain his lust. However, her transformation from geek to goddess is too
drastic for Jack to notice who it really is that's causing the stirring in
his loins. Rosa knows him though, and when the shoes come off Kelsey isn't
happy being a nobody any longer.
Next there is Gemma Halliday's So I Dated An Axe Murderer. Kya
is a techie who stumbles across the hiheelia.com web page, and immediately
finds herself drawn to the gorgeous models- especially the tall, dark, and
handsome one. The femme fatal one she just wants to be. So when Kya's order
arrives, the same striking red shoes the beautiful model is wearing in the
ad, she's ready to take part of the fairytale and be her- even for just one
night. Little does Kya know that with the shoes on she will be transformed
in more ways than one. Suddenly her life starts taking on a striking
resemblance to that of the envied model, Angel. Kya is no longer the boring
girl who sits at home with her cat on a Friday night dreaming of the men
she'll never have. Now she's living out her dream, and Mister Tall Dark and
Handsome is right at her side.
The third and final story, And They Danced, by Melanie Jackson
introduces readers to Faith and Avel. Faith is another computer nerd, one
who busies herself with home improvements for lack of anything better to do.
When a mysterious package arrives for her from hiheelia.com, at first she
just wants to discover who sent them. Could they be from Avel, a gorgeous
male friend who wants her to dance in a competition with him? Could they be
from a relative just trying to get her out of the house? She's not sure, but
the one thing she is sure of is that there is something incredibly different
about these shoes. They're not just beautiful, they're sensational. What's
even more is that when she puts on the shoes, reality takes a spin out of a
control. Not only would she swear she was dancing with Fred Astaire- on her
newly painted living room walls, but she suddenly has moves and courage she
never had before. With her nerves squelched, Faith takes the opportunity to
impress and go after the prize- Avel. She can truly bring it now, but what
was that Fred told her about wearing the shoes too many times?
These Boots Were Made for Strutting was another excellent read. I
think Cach, Halliday, and Jackson all did a great job of coming up with
something unique and fun for their shoes and heroines to do. After reading
the first book, I really envisioned a pair of shoes that brought the magic
of modeling or dancing to life. So it was exciting to see that was direction
this second book took. Again, though, I'm left with a desire to find that
hiheelia.com really does offer this magical line. Yet somehow I suspect it's
still too good to be true. Darn!
