Mikaela has a mission, and nothing, not even the young
man standing in her way or her fear of herself, are going to stop her. She’s
going to steal some horses. Not for money, for freedom. Hers, and theirs.
Shepherd has the body of a God. Problem? He has trouble talking to women.
And the strong silent type isn’t as popular as you might think. Then he
encounters his new stable hand. He wouldn’t have hired her himself; too
distracting in her real beauty. But now that she was his employee, what was
he going to do about his immediate desire?
I love immediate chemistry that turns into something more. And this
delivered. Mikaela’s need to do what she felt she had to was lost to me in
the beginning, but the author painted a picture with words that I finally
got. Shepherd surprised both myself and Mikaela with his reaction to her
crime. A happy surprise for us both. The ending was subtle, with the reader
able to take it anywhere they wanted.
