SUMMER FLAMES

September 2007

Synopsis:
A teacher's determination to retrace the steps her
pioneer ancestors took thrusts her into romance and danger.
All teacher Chera James wants from rugged, independent Kade Morgan is
permission to set foot on his private forestland. As the only female in a
male household, she refuses to be treated like a hothouse flower, especially
by a man who symbolizes everything the word masculine embodies. She has the
map of the trail her ancestors took during their trek west and is prepared
to take her own journey, alone.
Inner flames fuel the passion between Chera James and Kade Morgan, but their
romance and lives might not survive the human danger lurking in the
summer-dry forest. |

While on her way to ask
permission to access privately owned forest, Chera James, sees a fire
burning out of control. She rushes into a logging operation screaming about
the fire and stands by while the loggers handle the beast. After the fire is
taken care of, she looks around to see if the old guy who owns the land she
wishes to access is available. She is looking for Kade Morgan. The man who
is told about the fire is Kade Morgan, but he is in no way, shape, form, or
fashion, old.
She tells Kade about the grant she is trying to get by following in her
ancestor's footsteps that just so happen to be on his land. He is skeptical
because the previous year, he had to force illegal log poachers from his
land. The illegal poachers worked for the company owned by Chera's father.
Kade wants to keep an eye on Chera so he agrees to let her on his land and
he will be her personal guide.
Will Kade find out if Chera is part of her father's plan to distract him so
more illegal poaching can go on on his land while he is out being a forest
guide? Is Kade only capible of loving his forest and not the woman in front
of him?
Summer Flames by Vella Munn, brought attention to the carelessness of
humans in our forest and the lives of loggers. One match can do so much
damage to a forest in such a small time and Mother Nature can provide aid to
either side: the fire or the fire fighter. This book taught me the reasons
behind the "No Fires" warnings in the forest and even in drought areas.
Having lived in Seattle with all the forest, and not really understanding
the meaning behind the warnings; this was an eye opener. Thank you for
opening my eyes. The romance seemed to take a back seat to the forest.
