I’ve read every book written by J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts for a reason. She is
a fabulous author who never fails to entertain, intrigue and mystify.
Book 26 in the “In Death” series is another mystery that lieutenant Eve
Dallas and her cohort Detective Peabody have to solve. It’s also another
look into the life of Eve and her hottie of a husband, Roarke. The
development of their relationship is always anticipated, and sometimes takes
unexpected turns. But the one constant, their love and devotion, are always
prevalent.
The draw to me to this series is not so much the whodunit aspect, which
sometimes is revealed rather early in the book, but how is Eve going to pull
it all together, AND get the suspect to tip his/her hand and put themselves
in a cage. Drawing in her cadre of experts, she never fails to get her
villain, and goes to bed with the hottest man in the universe every night.
The latest tale once again uses all of Eve’s abilities to determine who
killed the mild mannered, happily married man in his own bed in a
spectacularly kinky fashion. No sign of forced entry, no apparent
struggle. His wife far away with her group of friends on a vacation planned
way in advance. Suspects are few.
Whodunit? Prepare to set aside several hours of uninterrupted time, because
you’ll be reading this book from start to finish in one sitting.
