Hidden longing and
unspoken need seems normal for Jon Lawless and Morgan O’Dell.
One drunken, barely
remembered night is all Morgan will allow herself to have with Jon
Lawless. No way will she end up as another notch on his bedpost. He might
flirt and tease, but she knows he doesn’t have it in him to stick around
for the long haul.
Jon Lawless has
wanted Morgan since the moment he first laid eyes on her in the bar a year
ago. Getting her to let him get close to her is a battle all its own.
When the USS
Defiant goes down, Jon makes sure Morgan is with him when they abandon
ship. After trying for a year to get her to spend time with him, he now
has her all to himself. No matter what he’s going to make her see that he
isn’t the playboy she thinks he is.
They are forced to
depend on each other for their survival, but the deeper feelings are
released as they slowly begin to trust and open up to each other. After
weeks of being alone and sharing the deepest of intimacies, Morgan knows
she loves Jon, but isn’t sure what he feels for her other than the
physical.
Then they learn
others from the Defiant made it through the crash. As they make their way
to the others Morgan begins to doubt what she and Jon have. Will he stay
with her after they reach the others, or will he go back to his playboy
ways, in turn breaking her heart? Can she believe him when he says she’s
the only one he wants?
Short it may be,
but it packs a punch! Worth the read.
