Danielle Beaumont received a request to come home. Back
to her mother’s home. Back to the home she was cast out of and disinherited.
King’s Ransom is in the middle of a beautiful exotic island. Upon her
arrival she is greeted by Sebastian Beaumont. Hearing nothing but great
tales from the employees, she wonders if the man is real or legend.
Sebastian wants to know why his adopted mother’s granddaughter has decided
to show up, now that her grandmother is dying. Is she hoping to get King’s
Ransom for herself? After saving the plantation time and again, he might be
adopted but he isn’t just going to hand over the plantation just because the
woman says she’s the legal heir.
From the moment they meet sparks fly—and not all of them good. There is an
attraction, but it appears that Sebastian has a woman waiting in the wings
to become the new mistress when her grandmother dies. All Dani wants to do
is make her grandmother’s last wishes come true. After she passes away,
she’s heading back stateside. Or is she?
The will is read and both Dani and Sebastian can’t believe what the wily old
woman has done. She’s deeded the plantation to both of them. But there are
stipulations to the will that cause a marriage of convenience to be the best
route for both of them.
When Dani notices that it appears that someone is out to hurt her, or even
kill her, she doesn’t want to believe her new husband is responsible. Even
though he swears he’s being faithful, there’s too much circumstantial
evidence saying that he’s cheating. When Sebastian turns from her
completely, Dani signs over the plantation and leaves for good. Or does she?
Packed full of excitement and spice, Dani is a woman that refuses to bend to
any man, and Sebastian is old school. Those two butt heads more than they
get along. But I do love how this story comes together. Though to be honest,
I was surprised when the truth was uncovered. Including Sebastian’s secrets.
