Synopsis:
The year is 2075, and
when FBI Special Agent Killian Gray's federal homicide team, dubbed "The
Blood Squad", is called to solve a heinous crime, the case takes them into
the dark underworld of the Sangerian Vampire clan. Killian is forced to team
up with the vampire clan Chief of Security, Dacon Sangerian.
Dacon's people have been providing protection for the Sangerian Clan since
its formation. Bred from a long line of warriors, Dacon toes the line of the
blood clan laws and takes his responsibilities seriously. Clan regulations
dominate his life. The first blood rule of the Sangerian Clan is simple —
turning an unwilling human into a vampire is punishable by death. It is
Dacon's job to ensure this rule is followed.
As Killian and Dacon work to solve a case that could start another war
between humans and vampires, they battle with forces of evil that could
destroy them both.

Sangerian Rose is the
first novel I’ve read from author, Rae Monet, but after reading this story I
know it will not be my last. She has several series that she has written and
Sangerian Rose is the first of a new one called the Blood Squad.
Dr. Killian Gray has a secret, one that not even her Blood Squad team of FBI
agents knows about. One she would rather not remember herself. While she
works to keep her secret hidden she must also fight against the blood
disease which has killed all the female members of her family for
generations. Still she is strong and stubborn and refuses to given in to her
weakening body while she works to solve the “strange” cases her special
squad are given. But this case she can’t solve alone – and she turns to the
vampires for help – something she never thought she would have to do.
Dacon Sangerian is a powerful vampire and head of security for the ancient
Sangerian Coven. Having lived through the Vampire/Human Hunter War he has no
love for humans. They have been at peace for 15 years but he’s happy to
remain underground in their Coven than above ground having to deal with
them. That is until several of his Coven are found dead in a human
warehouse. His brother, ruler of the Sangerian Coven, forces him to work
with Dr. Gray. You can feel the sparks fly as soon as they meet, the
attraction is strong between them, but their disdain for each other’s kind
has them fighting their feelings.
The plot twists and turns kept me involved and the love story between Dacon
and Killian was so steamy you could feel the pages burn. In Sangerian Rose,
Ms. Monet has done a wonderful job creating her own version of vampires,
different from the standard blood sucking, sleeping dead. I will definitely
be looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
If you like your characters strong, a story you can sink your teeth into (no
pun intended) and your sex hot then Sangerian Rose is for you. Just
make sure you have some uninterrupted time to read because you won’t want to
put it down until you’ve finished the last word
