Synopsis:
Bella Tremaine’s credo is always look your best even when you’re on the
run from the bad guys.
This modern southern belle has an ancient secret. Bella is the possessor of
a primeval amulet empowered by the gods with creativity and beauty, and this
spunky blonde has an abundance of both. Unfortunately a madman has
discovered Bella’s secret and is determined to gain possession of the
amulet, even if he must kill her to do so. It will take every wile in
Bella’s formidable arsenal of tricks to outwit the megalomaniac who is after
her.
At the same time the madman is trying to steal her amulet, a ranch hand is
trying to steal her heart. Bella is determined to not only stay alive but to
keep her size five stilettos foot loose and fancy free. Who will prove the
greater danger? The madman who wants her amulet or the ranch hand who wants
her heart?

As with any Sandra Cox book, Rose Quartz
does not disappoint its readers, using the premise of a myth and building a
credible story around what could happen if boji stones really did exist and
had mythical powers coveted by an evil villain. Ms. Cox has a very vivid
writing style that enables her to transport her readers to the scene she is
setting with incredible ease. Making Isabella a painter is an ideal choice
as it gives her free reign to let her creativity free. The bond between the
characters as symbolized by their amulets is handled very nicely, and it is
fun to see how they use the power of those amulets throughout the story
without it seeming cartoonish or extreme.
While it is not necessary that one reads
Boji Stones prior to reading Rose Quartz, it does help to provide
a little background information if you do so. As readers, we are fortunate
that Sandra Cox is such a descriptive writer, and so strong with detail that
her characters are not missing any facets or traits that would prevent the
reader from knowing and understanding their motives. Not having read Boji
Stones first, I am more inspired to find and read a copy of that book,
too. I certainly intend to read the next installment of this series,
Sabina's story, when it is available! In case there are any doubts – that is
a definite recommendation to read this book!
