Cynthia Thomason is one of my favorite authors. Her historical release,
Gabriel’s Angel, is one of my favorite books. It’s no surprise that
her new release, Return of the Wild Son, is another exceptional read.
What I love most about Cynthia Thomason’s writing is how real her
characters are and the situations that they have to deal with only end up
making them better people. Of course there is a strong romantic element in
her books, but what draws me to her stories are the way her characters
respond to each other and whatever life throws at them. I know that when I
pick up a Cynthia Thomason romance that I am in for one terrific book!
Return of the Wild Son is the story of Nate Shelton and Jenna Malloy;
both are trying to put a violent incident that happened in the past behind
them and live a normal life. Nate’s father is in jail after murdering
Jenna’s father, an incident that happened twenty years ago. While Nate left
Finnegan’s Cove, Jenna remained and is constantly reminded of the night she
saw her father’s dead body at the lighthouse. When Nate returns with news
that he is going to buy the lighthouse, Jenna’s life is turned upside down.
She herself had plans for the lighthouse and it didn’t include repairing
it, either.
As a relationship slowly begins to form between Nate and Jenna, there are
secrets from the night her father died and also secrets her mother is hiding
that are going to strain the fragile bond that exists between the two of
them. I couldn’t help but sympathize with Jenna and the emotions that she
goes through in this story. Nate is a charming man who eventually realizes
how much Finnegan Cove and the people there mean to him.
Return of the Wild Son is a superb read. I was surprised by all the
twists and turns throughout the course of this book and of course I loved
the romance between Nate and Jenna. Cynthia Thomason wrote a touching love
story that I highly recommend reading!
