Sometimes in reading you come across
a book that the prologue can make you close it and never finish it.
Unfortunately, if you do that with Measure of Healing by
Jacqueline Roth you’d miss a terrific read. The prologue, while in the
scheme of the story unimportant builds the world that it will take place in
and gives the feeling this will be the beginning of a series of books rather
than a single title.
The main plot of the story is
Alejandro Ramirez and Brie St. Jerome’s dance around each other while
treating a traumatized Were-Cougar kitten keeps the reader guessing. All
three of the main characters in Measure of Healing have healing of
their own to do. Ms. Roth handles the complexities of juggling the
insecurities and fears of both Alej and Brie well without letting them
overwhelm the plot or the reader. The healing of Tomas, the traumatized
kitten, acts as a catalyst to bring them together and face their own past
traumas.
Measure of Healing is a
delightfully complex story that draws you in and keeps you reading. Sit down
with a cup of coffee and a warm fire and enjoy a delightful romance.
