Synopsis: SHE'S BACK IN TIME...
Lily Hamlin has finally realized that her life isn't as perfect as she once
thought. Making a pilgrimage to Scotland, a land she's only heard about in
lullabies, Lily hopes that she can find her place again. But while exploring
the Highlands, she discovers an overgrown maze and a strange stone map--and
lands in the Lochaber of 1654...
...JUST IN TIME FOR HIM.
Ewen, Chief of the Clan Cameron, is a busy man who must figure out how to
save his people from the brutal redcoats and has time for little else.
Having sired an heir, the widowed Ewen has no need-or room-for another
romance. Then into his life drops a saucy lass with a peculiar accent, no
regard for his title--and an arousing body. Drawn to each other despite
their differences, they both realize that they don't want her to go back to
her own time. But with battles brewing between the Camerons, the redcoats,
and a rival clan, staying is a gamble.

Do I have a book for you to read, it’s called Master
of the Highlands by debut author Veronica Wolff. It is a time travel
romance that takes the heroine from present day Scotland to 1654 Scotland.
Master of the Highlands has something between its pages for every
kind of romance reader. I loved this book and I predict that Veronica Wolff
is going to have a prosperous career as a romance writer.
I’ll be the first to admit that I love a good time travel book. One of my
absolute favorite books is Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander, so of course I
was going to pick Master of the Highlands up and give it a try. I’m
so glad that I did! I instantly fell in love with the hero and heroine and
the secondary characters are so charming and likable that they became an
integral part of this book for me, too. Also, this story takes place mostly
in Scotland, and that’s a big plus for me, too. Basically, Veronica Wolff
wrote a book that is just what I want to read in the romance genre, in a
way, I feel she wrote the book just for me.
Let me talk first about Ewan, the Chief of Clan Cameron. I love him! He’s
completely alpha male with a tender side that makes my heart skip a beat. I
would definitely go back in time for him! His life as he knows it is going
to change and that change is brought on in the shape of a sexy woman from
the present somehow suddenly dropped into 1654 Scotland.
Lily Hamlin is a great heroine. She’s smart, strong and sweet. She’s
trying to get her life in order and decides that a trip to Scotland is
perfect for her. While going through an old maze, she suddenly appears in
the past and lucky for her, Ewan is going to win her heart.
Ewan and Lily’s love is hard won. There is a lot of sexual tension between
them that makes this story so worth the read. Aside from their romance,
there is also social conflict in between the pages of Master of the
Highlands. Ewan’s clan is dealing with a rival clan and nasty redcoats
and if he’s not careful both of these conflicts could prove to be deadly.
Veronica Wolff wrote a spectacular book. I loved every page of Master of
the Highlands and I highly recommend this book to any romance reader.
Her next book, Sword of the Highlands is going to be released soon
and I can’t wait to read it!
