Synopsis:
Nothing is more important to Reverend Annie Lane than preserving her
unblemished reputation. She lives a charitable, nun-like existence intent on
showing God's direction to the town's promiscuous teenager. Then Nick
McAllister blows into town. He's hell-bent on destroying her congregation's
belief in her and her image as a consummate do-gooder. After all, the
evidence points to her as a thief and seductress who drove his brother to
the brink of suicide.
Annie soon finds she must fight more than the damage to her reputation. Her
faith in the God she's devoted her life to is tested and shattered. Her
attraction to the man determined to destroy her proves stronger than any
desire to lead an exemplary life. Even after she learns he's only using her
for her high-profile connections, she can't dismiss her connection with Nick
. . .or the growing whispers about her fitness as a minister of God.
Nick's past life under the thumb of his hypocritical minister father leaves
him with utter disdain for Annie. But he needs her cooperation to save his
brother. When he discovers her secret, he knows his dream of bringing
healing and unity to his family is finally within reach. All he has to do is
choose between his lifelong goal and the love of a lifetime he's found with
Annie.

Lane to Heaven
by Sara Daniel is a wonderful contemporary romance. I was instantly drawn
into the story that she wove around an independent woman of God and the man
who is going to make her question her ideals. Sara Daniel gives good
insight into the mechanics of a small town and the influence that the
townspeople can make not only in their lives but in the lives of others.
Lane to Heaven is touching, romantic and just an all around great
read.
What I love about this book is that it is also a great book for young
adults. There’s no gratuitous sex, foul language and there are important
topics that Sara Daniel brings forth in the book that I think young adults
can relate to. It is not very often that you can read a book lined with
romance and then pass it on to your daughter, granddaughter, niece or any
other young lady trying to come into her own.
Reverend Annie Lane is a great character and she is superbly written. She
is dedicated to her church and the community. She is a truly good person
who is going to go through a very difficult time when Nick McAllister comes
into town. Nick is going to do everything he can to bring her down. He
believes that she is responsible for his brother’s rash and suicidal
behavior. However, Nick doesn’t know the truth, and the truth is something
that is going to be very difficult for him to believe.
Nick and Annie have incredible chemistry. It was interesting to see how he
eventually softens towards Annie and she starts to see him in a different
light, as well. There’s so much more to this book than just the blossoming
romance between these two characters. The secondary characters play such a
huge role in this story and what they say and do directly affects Annie.
I can’t say enough about Lane to Heaven. I truly enjoyed everything
about this book from the characters to the setting to the fast moving plot.
I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from this
talented author.
