Synopsis:
Something Wicked...
Maia Frasier thought she'd escaped the world of troubleshooters and demons
when she'd ceded her magical powers years earlier. Now a wounded enforcer
has turned up in her home, claiming Maia's sister is in danger.
Creed Blackwood needs Maia's help to hunt the demon he's after, especially
since he's hiding the fact that his powers are becoming erratic. And then
there are the blackouts...
Maia soon begins to fear Creed has fallen to the dark forces himself, and
with his strong and increasingly unreliable magic, he is as dangerous to her
and her sister as any demon could be.

Maia Frasier was once a Gineal troubleshooter, what we
would call a demon hunter. She became an Outsider after she ceded her magic
powers seven years ago for a reason that no one ever considered. Creed
Blackwood is also a troubleshooter but something dark and evil has tapped
into his mind. He thinks that maybe his time being a troubleshooter is
coming to an end but he needs Maia's help to protect one of the most
powerful of the Gineal, Ryne, Maia's younger sister.
In Twilight's Shadow was a fast paced intricately woven tale of
suspense, revenge, love, and possession. Patti O'Shea's characters were very
vivid and realistic. I was immediately suspicious of Creed and I wanted him
to get well quick and leave Maia alone. But as I read more of the story, I
didn't want him to leave; they needed to protect and soothe each other's
wounds. Maia's nurturing nature extended to everyone she came in contact
with. Creed was the self-centered alpha male that only cared about himself
until he went toe to toe with Maia. Their relationship started off
confrontational but soon mutual attraction and romance developed. The
secondary characters gave the needed insight into the past and present lives
of Maia and Creed. This was a great introduction to the works of Ms. O'Shea
and I am happy to have been sucked in.
