When I read the blurb for this book I knew I wanted to read it, and boy am I
glad I did. As a fan of Lora Leigh’s Seducing SEALs series, Sandra Hill’s
SEAL series and the Russell Crowe movie Proof of Life I was intrigued. Jodi
Henley captured me on page one and didn’t let go till the end.
Jen Stalling is a member of the Stalling family and never a more eccentric,
power hungry and wealthy bunch graced the pages of a novel. Jen is one of
the most complex heroines I have found in a novel. Filled with phobias, and
self image issues her strength of character is an amazing revelation as she
faces each new danger thrown at her.
Keegan Dalfrey has issues of his own; a brother being held for ransom and a
woman to protect that both arouses and confuses him. Where Jen’s strength
is surprising, Keegan’s humor and vulnerability make him an entirely worthy
hero for his heroine.
Throw in a sister and partner that are fighting there attraction to each
other, a cousin in love with a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, a
crazy aunt and eco-terrorist and hang on for the ride.
Jodi Henley successfully navigated a plot that would overwhelm authors of
lesser ability. Don’t just add this book to your to be read pile or even
your must be read pile, place it front and center on your read now pile, you
won’t be disappointed. I gave the book Simply Romances highest rating, but
it has now become the standard I will judge all books of this type by. Good
Job, Ms. Henley!
