Tarianna is a
silver healer that uses her body to heal the illness of others. She has been
commissioned by a family to help a young man that is dying of a disease.
After she works with Greggor, she takes to town to help any others that need
her.
But there is a
sacrifice to this gift. The deeper she uses her power to heal, the deeper
the well in her soul becomes. Hunger for food is easily appeased. But there
is another hunger that takes command of her. She uses sex to push back the
cold and the stark iciness that tries to consume her. The closeness of
another body, the sharing of energy, fills her so that she can heal again
the next day.
Tarianna doesn’t
like that she has to have many lovers when in her heart and soul, she’s
committed to her main patient. But after a successful session to help his
condition, Greggor pushes her away. Thinking he’s ashamed of her for what
she has to do to survive, it brings out something inside her she never knew
existed. Deciding her heart can’t take Greggor’s rejection Tarianna asks to
be released from the rest of her contract and a new healer brought in.
The ending to this
is bittersweet, but it is a great read. The love and passion is without a
doubt deeply expressed. You grow to feel Tarianna’s burden, but when Greggor
finally gets his head back north, he more than makes up for being a jackass.
