Synopsis:
Agnes Michaels is coming home. Home to her childhood town of Fairfield
and the house her father lovingly built for her mother. A house surrounded
by the woods where Agnes’ two childhood friends and her boyfriend, Tyler,
were all murdered twenty summers ago when she was just seventeen. She was
the only one who escaped, but not without emotional and physical scars.
Agnes knows that the woods and the evil entity that lives in it have been
waiting for her all these years but she has no choice but to return to
Fairfield and her mother’s house when her mother falls very ill and needs
her care. Agnes can no longer avoid her destiny. Because the killings have
begun again and she’s the only one who can stop them. And with the help of a
new friend and Tyler’s ghost, she’ll defeat the evil and save another
child’s life.

Absolutely Fantastic!
Don't Look Back Agnes is one of the best thrillers I have read in
awhile. The main character Agnes Michaels (formerly Chapman) must travel
back to the hometown she had run from at the age of 18 to take care of her
ailing mother. Once she arrives at her mother's home to unpack all her
belongings, she is shaken with an eerie sense of evil and nightmares of the
woods behind the house. Agnes is befriended by Herb when she first arrives
and is confused by the feelings she has about him because he stays mostly in
the dark or fog (which is creepy) yet she feels she knows him. She is also
introduced to officer Ben Peterson who aids and protects her throughout the
story. Agnes' mother has been confined to the hospital due to a hip injury
but what strikes a nerve with Agnes is the conversations of ghosts her
mother keeps bringing up and how they live within the woods. The next
horrible news to hit home for Agnes is that the same killer that kidnapped
and killed her friends years ago is back and all those nightmares have now
become reality for Agnes all over again.
Agnes is stopped by Herb and told of a little girl, Lottie, who has just
been kidnapped and that he is going to help her. Agnes is guided by Herb
towards the woods even though she truly is frightened, she follows him. They
come to a path that guides them towards a rocky area and she hears the
mumbles of the little girl who is barely alive and then sees the Evil.
What happens next is terrifying. You're just going to have to read
this incredible book to find out what happens!
I could not put this book down! Kathryn Griffith is such an astounding
author. The characters and storyline were witty, strong and yet afraid. I do
know that it will take me awhile to actually walk towards a wooded area
without getting tingling sensations up my spine!!
