Synopsis:

Fairies and Elves in the future, Oh My! Political intrigue at every corner! Who can you trust to help you survive?

In a fantastical future more than a century away, the world consists solely of the United States, America and Terrantoo, a magical world unlike anything Earth has seen since the time of Faeries and Elves in the middle. A plot to pair Marnie, a half dryad, with Jake, the heir to the American throne and Sam, Marnie’s half brother and half shapeshifter, with Cat, Jake’s younger sister, sends the four from the United States across Terrantoo to America.

Although the denizens of Terrantoo prove dangerous, family plots of the scheming kind, shared histories of wounded pride and mistrust, mutual attraction and sensual exploration that scorch the heart turn out to be the true threat to their peaceful, predictable lives. They battle Ogres, Harpies, Pixies, and Brownies as well as humans and Faeries, to survive while discovering new love and rediscovering old along the way. Magic and passion combine in this erotic tale of political intrigue in a time when fantasy and reality have come to occupy the same space.

Will love be the way of the future or just a thing in the past?

SRR GRADE:  B

In Crossing Faeryland by Raine McIntyre we find exciting characters, plot twists, love, romance, shape shifters, dryads and much more. Definitely a book I would read again when I finish all the other books I have on my computer and on my shelves.

Marnie and Sam never thought that they would see Jake again, though for different reasons. When Marnie had broken off her relationship with Jake, Sam thought that Jake had broken her heart. When the truth comes out as to why Marnie broke up with Jake, Sam realizes that he has been mad at Jake for no reason at all. So when they were hired to take Jake and his sister Cat across Terrantoo and back home where Cat will be married to someone her father has chosen for her, Sam and Jake renew their friendship.

While Marnie and Jake fight their feelings and Ogres, Sam tries to fight his “un-brotherly” feelings for Cat. Cat has decided that she is tired of Sam always treating her like the little sister that she ISN’T. Just because she is his best friend’s sister does not make her his sister. She plans on making sure that he understands that fully by the end of the trip.

Without giving away all the plot twists I would recommend the book with high regards. The only thing that kept this book from getting a higher grade was the very beginning of the book. I felt like I was looking at a very large knot and the only thing to do was to cut it loose so I could continue. There seemed to be too many things to remember, and I was easily confused as to who was related to whom. Once I let go and moved on into the story, everything ironed itself out. The book was very fast paced after that point and I couldn’t put it down! Definitely a must read!
