Maggie O’Dell has avoided confrontation all her life.
Instead of making waves she allows people to push her around. After seeing
her older sister looking miserable, Maggie decides she’s taking charge of
her life.
She quit her job with her father’s company, moved into her own apartment,
and bought herself a car. Major steps for a grown woman that until recently
lived with her father.
On her way home from work she remembers she’s out of buttermilk. She needs
it to make her blueberry pancakes. Taking a deep breath she stops and enters
a store she’d only have come to in the light of day.
There are three people in the store. The clerk, the clerk’s daughter that is
a curious toddler, and a man that would put a bit of fear in a Hell’s Angel.
It takes all her courage to get the milk and make for the register. She’s
relieved until all hell breaks loose.
A robber with possible intent of doing harm, or even murder forces Maggie to
step outside herself and do something she never would have done normally.
She learns that Mr. Hell’s Angel is actually a police detective undercover
and interested in learning more about her. If all goes well, Maggie will get
her blueberry pancakes, and she’ll have a hunky guest to share them with.
I liked the flow and the plot of this story. When the caterpillar comes out
of her cocoon into a butterfly and spreads her wings, she learns that
there’s a whole world out there, and if she’s willing, she’ll find the love
of a lifetime. I really enjoyed this book, and you might too.
