Synopsis:
James O’Connell lives simply, except for the whole hunting werewolves part.
As one of the three lycan princes of the O’Connell clan, it’s his duty to
enforce the lycan law. When a member of their clan begins killing humans,
he’s sent to bring the rogue wolf in.
Claudia Hughes lives an ordinary life as a computer software analyst. Her
mother and grandmother had psychic intuition, but hers is severely
underdeveloped. Taking a solitary vacation, she trusted where instinct led
her and ended up at the end of some crazy woman’s fangs. She’s led into a
surreal world where lycans exist and passion for the man who saved her is
the least of her worries

Having read
several Michelle Pillow novels in the past, I had very high expectations for
this release as well, and was not disappointed. As always, her story was
very well written: the love scenes erotic and steamy, the action gripping
and nail biting. As the third installment in the Call series, Call of
Temptation sees James O'Connell continue his hunt for Meaghan, the
O'Connell clan's rogue lycan who has been on a murder spree, killing and
infecting innocent humans at will.
When we enter
this story Meaghan and James both encounter Claudia Hughes, with differing
results. Meaghan has bitten and possibly turned Claudia, and James feels it
is his responsibility to guide her through the change. As James describes
it, the change involves "blood and sex" which is what dominates this tale
and the interaction between Claudia and James as they search for Meaghan. At
one point, Claudia feels that he is hiding something from her, and in a way
it feels as if something is being kept from us as well. Perhaps that is
because as the third installment in the series the reader is expected to
have read the previous stories, and without this history we are somewhat
disconnected from the storyline.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit, and while
I would not suggest it as a standalone, I would highly recommend it as part
of the entire series.
