Synopsis:

One horrendous act meant to destroy her. Only one night to fulfill a lifetime of passion. Could fate be this cruel?

Rina Daniels could not believe the cruel twist of irony.  Years of secret longing and hunger for a man she could never have made her flee his protection, only to find herself in the hands of his enemies.  Forcefully converted to the sexual being known across the universes as tagratis, she is now doomed to spend an eternity unfulfilled. But she has one night.

Kandos Strabuquar hated himself for not protecting Rina.  His secret desire for her had blinded his judgment.  He never should have allowed her to remain on his planet, even if it was just for a visit.  Now she was a tagratis, and she would suffer a lifetime of ungratified sexual need.  But he had one night.

In Cadari Lover Cara Carnes uses a very imaginative talent to create a world her readers can share with her two star-crossed lovers as they spend their last night together. Rina has known and loved her brothers' friend, Kandos, most of her life. After being infected by the tagratis virus  Rina finds herself tainted with the insatiable urge for sex that the virus inflicts on all its victims. Kandos, recognizing she must go into quarantine and that they may be separated forever decides to have one last night with Rina, at the risk of his position as Commander.

While Rina and Kandos obviously share a fierce passion that they have reigned in for many years, they also secretly love the other as well. Ms. Carnes shows great sensitivity in writing the love scenes between the two lovers, adding more than enough pathos to their joining suggest an imminent parting yet that fiery passion of the pre–tagratis. The question is, is Rina truly infected, and if so will Kandos allow them to be separated? Ms. Carnes has such a subtle touch; she does not answer these questions until the very end of Cadari Lover, which gives it a nice little surprise twist and makes it well worth reading.
