In Booty Call for Murder, Jane
Greenhill weaves a suspenseful yarn of a deranged killer and the ex-cop who
has sworn to bring him down. In the middle of the mayhem is Victoria
Hubert, scarred by life but content to live life through her romance
novels. She learns quickly that the life of a romantic heroine is not all
that it’s cracked up to be, and that your leading man, sexy or not, will
probably come packing flaws. Ms. Greenhill does an excellent job building
her characters for this story and that makes it very easy to become immersed
in the world she creates. The dialogue can get a little unbelievable at
times but the story more than makes up for it.
Victoria has lost almost everyone she
loves, but she clings to the hope of true love via her romance novels. But
she soon learns that truth is much stranger and scarier than fiction. When
Angus McDonald, retired detective, comes in to the library to research
Richard Markov, the deranged killer who escaped justice, he never expected
to meet the woman of his dreams. But that’s exactly what happened. Too bad
there is so much in their way.
Angus has no idea Victoria is a Hubert and
one of the hunted by Markov. Victoria has no idea why all of a sudden it
seems like every day there is an attempt on her life…she’s just a librarian
what did she do to anyone!
Booty Call for Murder
manages to find some light hearted moments in the midst of all the
suspense. You’ll be holding your breath until the last, following more
turns than a NASCAR race, before we come to the climactic ending or is it
the end? I recommend you shake your booty to the bookstore and pick this
one up, you won’t be sorry you did.
