Synopsis:
As an obstetrician, volunteer and caretaker to several
eccentric family members, Lillian Smythe has a full life. So when Aunt Fran
does her annual birthday tarot reading and predicts Lillian will meet her
true love, she's not sure that's a blessing. Even if the naked, well-endowed
man on the King of Swords card does make her hot.
Serving as chauffeur to senile old ladies isn't what caused Detective Brent
Kennedy to move home, but as the new guy, Brent has to take whatever
assignments are thrown his way. Having grown up on the wrong side of the
tracks, he's out to prove himself, even if it means he has to babysit Miss
Smythe until her guardian can come pick her up.
Lillian is shocked. Brent looks exactly like the model on her birthday
blessing card. But class differences, thefts and one very opinionated ghost
come between them and Lillian begins to have doubts. Even if the is the best
birthday gift she's ever had.

Torrid Tarot - Birthday
Blessing by Julia Daniels and Jill Noelle is a thoroughly entertaining
contemporary romance. Daniels and Noelle worked together to bring readers a
book that they will enjoy from the first page to the last. I found all the
characters endearing and the plot to be rather unique in itself. I have no
problem recommending this romance to any reader!
Obstetrician Lillian Smythe has been mostly contented with her life. All
that’s about to change when her eccentric family throws her a surprise
birthday party and her elderly aunt gives her a tarot reading. The tarot
reading with the naked man tarot deck was a hilarious scene in this book.
Her Aunt Fran tells her that she’s going to meet a man (perhaps the man that
is on the tarot deck – hm?), fall in love, get married and become pregnant
within the course of year. While Lillian scoffs at the reading, although
admiring the well endowed men on the cards, she continues to celebrate her
penis themed birthday party.
The next day, Lillian finds herself at the local police headquarters picking
up her sticky-fingered but very loveable Aunt Grace. While there she meets
the man on the deck of cards that is supposed to be “the man” for her.
Although a bit taken back, Lillian manages to take her Aunt safely out of
the headquarters and back home; however she doesn’t know she dropped her
pager.
New man on the force, Detective Brent Kennedy decides to check out Lillian
and make sure that she’s not into anything illegal. He did her hear say the
word “delivery” and she does carry a beeper. What a fool he certainly feels
like when he finds out that she delivers babies and not anything illegal!
Brent is taken with Lillian and decides to return her pager to her
personally.
It certainly doesn’t take Lillian and Brent to discover that they are quite
compatible in bed, but the real test will be whether or not they can let
each other into their personal lives. This proves especially trying for
Lillian, who has her hands full with her job and with her eccentric family.
Lillian needs to let go and trust her and Brent and realize that her
birthday blessing isn’t completely out of her grasp.
Torrid Tarot - Birthday Blessing truly is a great contemporary
romance that has its fair share of steamy sex scenes! It told a delicious
story that will satisfy any romance reader. Julia Daniels and Jill Noel made
a perfect team to bring us such an enjoyable read!
