Callie Maxwell’s family was cut down in cold blood. No
matter what anyone says, she’ll do what she has to get justice from the men
responsible. When she comes across the U.S. Marshall, Austin Kincaide, who
does everything by the book, she won’t let him stop her either. He’s been
sent to investigate the case, but Callie won’t stop interfering and seems to
be either one step ahead or just behind him wherever he goes.
The Angel of Justice, Callie’s alter-ego is born and she dares the killers
to try and take her out, taunting them, doing all she can to get them to
make a move. She rides in the night, protected by friends and no one will
tell Austin anything about the mysterious nightly rider.
While Callie refuses to back off from Austin, she never thought she’d fall
in love with him. She senses something bad happened in his past, something
that’s made him back off from love, but one night, when things get cut a bit
too close, Austin caves and he and Callie spend the night making love.
Austin lost the one woman he ever loved. Not just once to his best friend,
but a second time when she is caught in a cross fire and dies in his arms.
Not willing to take a chance on his heart again, he fights what he feels for
Callie, determined not to fall in love with her.
Mightier men than Austin Kincaide have fallen in love, and once that love
arrow hits you, there’s no escaping it. And Callie is woman enough to take
on not only a band of murdering thieves, but the fight for Austin’s heart.
With a promise that the Angel will ride no more, Austin is determined to
make it happen. He marries Callie, and though she might be his wife, there’s
no way he can tame her. The passion alone between them will keep their
tempers hot, and their bedroom hotter.
But then the full details of who hired the killers to kill her family, the
betrayal, the insanity, and all the danger roll together in a hard fight
that could end up with more than one person dead. Especially since Callie is
the main person the killer wants dead.
I loved the way that Callie was independent and that she let no man run over
her, not a U.S. Marshall, even if he is her husband. And though Austin had
once lost love, he finally opened his eyes and realized that he had
something priceless right under his nose and grabbed it before that elusive
gift was lost once more. Passionate and in places heartbreaking, Angel in
the Moonlight is a great read.
