A newspaper headline catches the attention of school
teacher, Eliza Woodpen of Banjo, TX. The article says, "Continued Efforts
to Locate Boston Heiress Brings Railroad Tycoon to Texas". This headline
is enough to cause Eliza to panic because her past is catching up with
her. Walking back to her house, she finds a copper 2 cents piece.
Finding a penny was suppose to be good luck and that is what Eliza is
counting on as she made her wish, "Keep me safe from Charles Rittman."
After making her wish, she has a near collision with a horse and wagon.
Running to get out of the way, she runs headfirst into bounty hunter
Copper Reeves.
Cooper is in Banjo trying to collect the bounty on
suspected fugitive Jake Nolan when he gets shot in the backside by two
local boys. Since there are no rooms at the Inn and Tabor Nolan would
like to keep a close eye on the bounty hunter that is after his brother,
he suggests that Eliza nurse him back to health. His staying at her home
is not only improper for a single woman but definitely not proper for the
town's school teacher.
Eliza has too many secrets to be kept hidden especially
from a bounty hunter that may be after her in more ways than one. Was
Copper hired by Charles to find her and Emilie? Will Copper come back to
Banjo after he catches his fugitive? Will Ted Nates, her dining partner,
accept that Eliza only wants to remain friends and not become the future
Mrs. Ted Nates?
Ciara Gold's Eliza's
Copper Penny is a heart warming story of unexpected love and
forgiveness. Eliza was not looking for love because she had too many
secrets that she thought would make her unlovable. Copper wasn't looking
for love either because his job was just not the profession for a man with
a family. Would they set aside the things that kept them apart and come
together and share their love for each other?
