Synopsis:

He waited seven hundred years to find her.

For what seemed an eternity, Julen endured a nightly punishment that never should have been his. Descended from a line of ancient warriors, he vowed not to become the creature his persecutors claimed he was - the creature they did their best to make him into. Now that he has found the healer who can end his nightly torment, the stirring she creates in his Agathyrsi blood threatens to bring more danger than redemption.

She was sworn to destroy him.

Sofia Evan, owner of Fortune's Cup coffeehouse, had been raised on family lore and responsibility passed down through generations on a rare parchment. She never believed the darkness and pain in its tales to be more than myth, never questioned the reasons for the gifts that set her apart from all the rest. Until one winter morning changes everything. Now the breathtaking man who haunts her waking hours is the very being whose curse she must put an end to - one way or another.

Excerpt:

“I’m glad you find me so amusing.” She stopped walking altogether. The first griffin was at her back and at least she couldn’t topple off the building from where she stood.

“Amusing is not what I find you.” His voice was too near. The tiny hairs on her neck and arms bristled. Three yards away maybe. Less than that …

“You have me at a disadvantage, Julen,” she said.

And then he was in front of her, so near she could almost reach out and touch him. Tall and imposing, he wrapped something around himself and then drew one step nearer.

Sofia could see him clearly then as he tied the belt of a robe loosely around his waist so that the garment gaped open at the chest but all else was covered. Lined in pale blue satin, the robe, flowing black velvet on the outside. Opulent, she thought. He looked like a wicked magician with the mist rolling and billowing at his feet. Sensual. Intimidating.

“Quite the predicament I’m in, is it not?” he said with a tight smile. “You, trying to kill me. Me, needing you to save myself.”

“Quite the predicament I’m in. Me, needing to kill you. You, needing to be killed.” She smiled in return. “Hey—not much of a predicament at all now that I think about it.”

He smiled for real then, straight white teeth exposed with his delight. That enticing scent of rainwater and masculinity drifted to her when he moved.
